Imagine a car driving through a busy industrial complex… with no one inside. That’s not science fiction. That’s Giga Texas.
Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) Unsupervised is quietly becoming a regular part of daily operations at the Giga Texas factory — and it’s turning heads.
Just recently, the Tesla AI Team posted a video that showed a brand-new Model Y confidently driving itself — with no one in the driver’s seat — from the end of the production line to the outbound logistics lot. This is now becoming standard practice, not just a tech demo.

A Real-World Test Lab for Self-Driving Tech
The video shows Teslas, including Model Ys and Cybertrucks, navigating a 1.4-mile route through a fairly complicated area: roads shared with people, semi-trucks, construction vehicles, and other factory equipment.
And yet — the car just drives. Smoothly. Confidently. Like it’s been doing it for years.
According to Tesla, the company has now logged over 50,000 miles of driverless operation between the Fremont and Giga Texas factories. That’s a lot of data for Tesla’s AI to learn from.
It’s Not a Demo Anymore — It’s Daily Reality
Tesla watcher Joe Tegtmeyer, who regularly documents what’s happening at Giga Texas, recently captured a video of a white Model Y driving with no one inside.
“This is now standard operations, not just a fun video!” he tweeted.
“Pretty great to see the confidence in @Tesla_AI put into actual use!”
In the video, the car moves with the same ease and speed as any other vehicle on the lot — only there’s no driver behind the wheel.

The Normalization of What Once Seemed Impossible
Tesla has always pushed boundaries, but seeing FSD Unsupervised in real-world use — in a busy, high-risk environment — makes it feel like the future is finally here.
Yes, Elon Musk has missed his FSD deadlines more than once. But this latest rollout shows a system that’s polished, capable, and already doing real work.
Could 2025 finally be the year Tesla unleashes FSD Unsupervised to the public?
Why This Is a Big Deal
- It’s not a test track — these are production cars driving in an active factory setting.
- No safety driver onboard — these vehicles are navigating fully autonomously.
- Tesla is collecting real-world training data with every trip.
The more miles Tesla logs in places like Giga Texas, the smarter and safer FSD gets — and the closer we get to full autonomy on public roads.
Would you trust your car to drive without you?
